Sci Fi Hallway

Modular SciFi Hallway

In this assignment, I created a hallway using modular design and workflow. Modular design allowed me to create an easy-to-piece-together scene in Unity, ready for a game environment. The first part of the process to make a modular hallway was to source out references. I had chosen these images to be my references:

Some problems happened in Unity. One being that my center pivot point refused to move when selecting different pieces of my models. This did not get fixed permanently, however, deleting the preferences and reopening Maya briefly fixed it.

In Maya, we then moved on to UV'ing our low poly models. This process took me a while at first, but I learned how to use the Automatic tool with Cut and Sew to smooth along the process, cutting what originally took well over 6 hours into less than 2 hours of work.

Here is my scene in Maya. Each piece of the low poly for the Hallway has been laid out in pieces.

After modeling, came arranging everything as needed and renaming everything in preparation for Substance Painter. This happened to be the most tedious part of exporting into Substance as each component of an export needed to be named a certain way. I eventually completed this task successfully after several tries. Now I know better and will be able to organize better for export in the future.

After painting on textures in Substance Painter and exporting the two texture sets I had gotten ready, we then moved in to Unity. Along with this next step came a lot of tedium in setting up the scene. This is what my scene ended up looking like after completion.

Here are the exported textures combined into one easy to read picture.

And here is my final scene... a walk through video!
